CEO MESSAGE: MARCH

Welcome to March!

I find it hard to comprehend that already we are in the last month of our first quarter! Time goes fast when you’re having fun and we certainly do!  While we have not seen the same level of sales as this period in 2021, we have hit our targets, with records set in February at two of the ReStores. Given the lower level of inventory in the stores, this is a great achievement.

I’m pleased to share that our new three-year strategic plan, covering 2022 – 2025, has been completed.  Of course, the goal is always to serve more families and help as many people as we can, but our landscape is changing and the organization must respond accordingly.  Our key objectives are:

  • Resource Development Growth
  • Improving Government Relations
  • Consistent Build Cycle

More details on each of the objectives can be found on our website here

The 2022 volunteer survey has been distributed by email and is also available in paper format at the ReStores.  We value your input into our program if you’re one of our much-valued volunteers we encourage you to complete the survey.

We are currently recruiting for board members, if you would like to be part of a dynamic organization that gives families a hand up, please visit our website to apply, https://www.habitatforhumanityokanagan.ca/board-members/4083-2/

Finally, I have news to share with you, that really warms my heart.  We have announced the proposed occupancy dates for our first phase of homes in Lake Country.  We expect the first three families to have occupancy on the 1st of May with the remaining five on the 25th of June.  Our staff, volunteers, donors and families are all helping to make this possible, thank you!
