Location: West Kelowna, Kelowna

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the ReStore manager is responsible for all aspects of managing the daily profitability of ReStore operations utilizing volunteers and staff.  This position is also a strong advocate for the Habitat for Humanity brand and is responsible to support and promote the mission in day-to-day activities.  The ReStore Manager is a leadership role, and as such, you should be prepared to manage daily operations, troubleshoot problems in the workplace, ensure a positive customer and donor experience and lead a team by performance example. The ReStore manager is in good physical condition with strong interpersonal skills and is adaptable to a changing environment on a daily basis.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

 Accountability

  • Compliance with HFHO policies and procedures
  • Leadership in safety compliance, hazard assessment and reporting
  • Effective budget planning, analysis and cost control

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily ReStore operations
  • Manage inventory flow, processing, and pricing
  • Staffing
    • Scheduling and accurate reporting of hours
    • Hiring, coaching and mentoring of all staff
    • Ensure orientations, onboarding and training processes are followed
    • Manage conflict resolution
    • Conduct regular staff meetings
    • Facilitate a positive team environment
    • Annual reviews and goal setting with staff members
    • Conduct disciplinary measures respectfully and fairly
    • Accurate documentation forwarded to personnel files
  • Safety
    • Adhere to and enforce compliance to HFHO safety policies and procedures
    • Accurate documentation and reporting
    • Conduct toolbox meetings
    • Ensure site safety checklists are complete as required
    • Compliance with recommendations by the JHSC
  • Financial
    • Ensure timely, safe, accurate cash handling, reporting and depositing
    • Authorize in-store refunds, staff discounts and/or credits
    • Complete accurate paperwork for donor tax receipting
  • Volunteers
    • Onboarding and safety orientations for all volunteers
    • Ensure a positive experience for volunteers
    • Promote, engage and enlist volunteers
    • Support and follow HFHO directives, controls and events supporting the volunteer program
    • Liaise with volunteer coordinator; recruitment, recognition, issues
  • Operations
    • Follow and enforce daily opening and end of day procedures
    • Available for emergency/security events outside of normal business hours
    • Ensure good housekeeping practices
    • Note, plan and respond to repair and maintenance issues
    • Actively promote and procure donations for retrieval and resale
    • Support and engage effectively with other ReStore managers of HFHO
  • Administrative
    • Support and promote affiliate directives
    • Participate in scheduled meetings
    • Timely response to affiliate queries and direction

Working Conditions

  • Standing for long periods
  • Repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs
  • Working in extreme weather conditions
  • Direct relationships with the general public and volunteers

Knowledge/Requirements

  • Independent, forward thinker with attention to detail
  • Exceptional customer service
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills including Microsoft office software
  • Effective interpersonal and mentoring skills
  • Operation of lifting devices and tools
  • Elevated awareness of safety programs and administration of the same
  • Retail management experience an asset
  • A forklift license is an asset
