CEO MESSAGE – July 2021

I can’t quite believe we are now halfway through the year!

Our retail operations have been very busy in the first six months, we have seen our ReStores exceed targets and break records.  The kitchen salvage program has also been very active and is a very popular service that serves the community.  Many cabinets have found new homes and been saved from the land fill! Thank you to everyone that donates, buys, works and volunteers, you make a difference!

Unfortunately delays on the build site have hampered the start of the next two buildings.  We have been waiting for the utilities to be installed and now this has been completed, we expect structural work to commence again at the beginning of July. Anyone interested in volunteering on site is very welcome to sign up!

We have two events happing in July that I wanted to share with you, the first is our bottle drive being held on the 10th July.  As usual our Kelowna and West Kelowna stores will be accepting bottles and cans from 10 – 1 at these locations.  On the same day the Predator Ridge bottle drive, organized by Glory Westwood, HFHO Board Director is also happening, please support us by donating your empties!  We still require volunteer support at these events and you can sign up via by clicking here or by emailing volunteer@hfhokanagan.ca.

Our other event is the Habitat Fore Humanity Okanagan Golf Experiences Raffle, there are 7 great prizes to be won. First prize is golf for four at Predator Ridge with a $200 restaurant voucher and a golf lesson from pro golfer Dick Zokol!  To view the full details of this raffle and the rest of the great prizes please visit our website; www.habitatforhumanityokanagan.ca. A big thank you to the courses that are supporting us with this fund raiser.  Tickets are available at all the stores and on Saturdays at Canadian Tire West Kelowna and Home Hardware Kelowna 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Like many of you I am so pleased to see the relaxation of our Covid restrictions, I’ve certainly missed the networking events in our community and also being able to socialise with the staff and volunteers that work hard to keep our operations flowing. We all have some catching up to do!
