Habitat for Humanity Okanagan Now Accepting Applications for Affordable Homeownership Opportunity in Lake Country

Central Okanagan, BC – June 24, 2026– Habitat for Humanity Okanagan is now accepting applications for an affordable homeownership opportunity in Lake Country, following the exciting transition of a local Habitat family into a larger home.
The three-bedroom Lake Country home became available after its current Habitat homeowners, Luke & Bella Williams, reached a significant milestone, they built enough equity and financial stability to secure a traditional mortgage.
“Thanks to Habitat Okanagan, we were able to build enough equity in only four years to purchase a larger home on a traditional mortgage, closer to family and with lots of room for our three kids to grow and explore. We wouldn’t have been able to do that without Habitat,” says Luke Williams.
Their success story reflects the impact of Habitat Okanagan’s affordable homeownership program, which helps hardworking families build stability, equity, and brighter futures through safe and affordable housing.
“One of the most rewarding parts of our work is seeing families achieve their goals and move forward with confidence,” said Lenetta Parry, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Okanagan.  ”This home becoming available represents a new opportunity for another local family to begin their own homeownership journey. Habitat creates lasting change not just for one generation, but for generations to come.”
Eligible applicants are selected based on three key criteria:
• A need for safe and affordable housing
• The ability to pay a mortgage
• A willingness to partner with Habitat through volunteer hours and program participation
Applicants must demonstrate stable income, a commitment to completing 500 volunteer hours, and a readiness to engage in the full Habitat partnership journey, which supports long-term success as homeowners.
“This is more than a home. It’s an opportunity for families to build a strong foundation for their future,” said Alison Miller, Family Services Manager at Habitat for Humanity Okanagan.” We walk alongside our partner families every step of the way, ensuring they have the tools, support, and confidence to succeed as homeowners.”
Habitat Okanagan is encouraging eligible families to apply and inviting the broader community to help build more affordable homeownership opportunities.
Community members can support Habitat Okanagan’s work by making a financial donation, purchasing a 50/50 ticket, volunteering, or shopping and donating at any of their four ReStore locations, where proceeds directly support local affordable housing projects.
Applications are now open for the three-bedroom Lake Country home.
