CEO Message – February 2025

How great was the January weather? It seems to of had a positive effect on our stores as January, which is usually a slower sales month, as we all recover from the Christmas spending spree, bucked the tend this year and we had a very busy month! 

We haven’t fully completed our year end for 2024 but the draft numbers are indicating that despite the challenges many retails organization our performance from other revenue sources, that incudes gaming and fundraising far exceed forecasts.  Thank you to everyone that supported us in many ways, it is a testament to collaboration.

While we don’t have a build this year, we do need to keep the momentum going to raise funds for future projects and 2025 will be another full on year of community engagement.  The weekends of March and April are already filled with home shows and we are looking forward to touring the valley again to share all things Habitat Okanagan.  We are now able to share our events calendar electronically and signing up to support us has never been easier thanks to the work done by Courtney Clark, HFHO Marketing/Comms and Volunteer Coordinator.  

Despite not having a build we are still able to offer your organization a Team Build in one of our ReStores.  You will see for yourself  why we were awarded the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Environmental Sustainability award when you get behind the scenes of our operations and the work done by staff and volunteers to save the landfill and offer great products at amazing prices.

The 50/50 raffles have restarted!  The You Win We Build raffle is back with a change to the $100 package, we have DOUBLED the number of tickets for this purchase to 200, this considerably increases your chances of winning the pot. Tickets can be purchased online or visit us in person when we are attending events.

Hopefully the next time I’m writing my message there are signs that spring will soon be here!
