We have just welcomed 12 families to their newly completed homes in Lake Country, and do not have an active build site now.  Our next anticipated date to be looking for build volunteers will be in 2027/28.

Join us as a volunteer at Habitat Okanagan community events. You’ll help raise awareness, support affordable housing, and represent a cause that changes lives.

We need support with:

  • Event setup and takedown

  • Running booths or activities

Whether it’s a market, festival, or fundraiser — your presence helps us reach more people and grow our impact.

I always knew that I would do some type of volunteer work when I retired.  I didn’t know what that would be but wanted it to be something different from my regular job.  I attended a career fair and gathered information from a few organizations and  Habitat was the first to contact me so thought I would give it a go.  I have enjoyed helping people to find what they are looking for and interacting with them.  Recently I was assisting an elderly couple and at the end she looked at my name tag and said, ‘You’re a volunteer!’  ‘Yes’ I said and she opened her arms and gave me a big hug.  I have also met a couple of the families assisted by Habitat and it is very heart warming to hear how having a stable home has improved the lives of them and their families.  I love that the building of homes is ongoing from one project to the next – no down time – and from varying communities within the Okanagan.  That is why I am a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
