Wow the summer has flown by, September already!
We have a packed e-Blast for you this month with lots of updates! It’s been a very busy time for the team!
The highlight of August was welcoming four new families to the Powley Court community.
It has been quite the journey over the last 3.5 years to develop this half-acre site and embark on our largest project to date, after a lot of work it has been transformed into twelve beautiful homes.
We held another emotional key ceremony, where we heard about the struggles these families have faced trying to find safe and affordable homes. When setting the completion date, we wanted the children to join their new classes at the beginning of the school year, to achieve this goal it was a frantic dash to the finishing line. A big thank you to all our community partners; suppliers, trades, donors, staff and volunteers that have made this project possible. It was lovely to see many of those involved in the project join us as we handed over the keys.
The landscapers are doing a great job of making the yard useable and safe, when finished it will be a lovely outdoor space for the families to enjoy. We still require volunteer help with the planting and connection of the irrigation lines to be 100% complete, look out for updates if you would like to volunteer.
This last weekend we attended the Armstrong IPE, and what a successful event this was! The Habitat team were at the booth for five full days selling the You Win We Build 50/50 and promoting all things Habitat. The sun was shining, we were in a great spot, the response was fantastic and the ice cream we needed to keep cool was delicious! We are very grateful for the volunteers who endured the heat to help! We still have several events happening in the fall and extra hands are always very appreciated.
A reminder that the in-store 50/50 for this quarter is drawing to a close with Friday, Oct 4th, 2024 being the draw date. The current pot is $6495! This is a very affordable raffle with great odds of winning, tickets can be purchased from your local ReStore.
The ReStores are already preparing for the next season! Fall décor and Halloween items are already available to purchase and they sell out very quickly! A reminder that the last Wednesday of each month is our 20% store-wide sale day.
