Imagine a family’s first night in their new home.
Moving boxes are still stacked in the hallway. Nobody can find the plates. Dinner is pizza on the living room floor. A child runs from room to room, deciding where their bed should go and which corner will hold their favourite toys.
Their parent sits down beside them.
There is still so much to unpack, but for a moment, they stop.
They look around and begin to picture their life here. Getting ready for school in the morning. Making dinner together. Inviting someone over without worrying about having enough space.
For their child, it is an exciting new adventure. For that parent, it may be the first time in a long time they’ve been able to take a deep breath and look toward the future with confidence.
That moment is why housing matters. That is the power of a Habitat Home.
At Habitat Okanagan, our mission is to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. We work alongside families who are ready to take the next step toward affordable homeownership but need a pathway to make that possible.
These are families working hard, raising children, and contributing to our communities. When they have access to a home they can afford, it changes what they can plan for. It creates stability, opportunity, and the ability to look beyond simply getting through the day.
We cannot do this work alone.
Whether you donate, volunteer your time, shop at our ReStores, participate in one of our events, or share our mission with someone who might want to get involved, your support is what makes these moments possible.
There are many ways to help, and in this month’s newsletter, we’re sharing some of them.
You’ll find details about our 50/50 raffle, learn how you can get involved in the Jingle Bell Build, and find out more about homeownership applications in Lake Country. We’re also highlighting the many benefits of volunteering and sharing important and exciting dates for our four ReStore locations.
Thank you for being part of the Habitat Okanagan community! Every act of kindness matters.
As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, it’s a wonderful time to pause and give thanks to the many people who make this work possible. To our hardworking volunteers, dedicated staff, generous donors, and community supporters, thank you for giving your time, energy, and heart to Habitat Okanagan. Your support helps families build a future filled with possibility, and we are so grateful to have you as part of our community.
We hope you and your loved ones enjoy a safe, happy, and healthy Thanksgiving weekend, with time to slow down, connect with family and friends, and appreciate the people and places that make a house feel like home.
