CEO Message – July 2025

It’s nice to see the weather settling down. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and taking time to get outside and make the most of our beautiful valley and all it has to offer.

On the 13th June we hosted Habitat Canada visitors, Pedro Barata President and CEO and Karen Coviello Senior Vice President, People & Impact. The day started with a visit to Lake County, they were impressed by the location, design and quality of these homes. They then toured the Kelowna and West Kelowna stores to meet the staff and volunteers and see the great job they do. Obviously, they needed to taste some of our local cuisine and abundance of wine and trip concluded with a visit to The Modest Butcher for a delicious meal with staff and board members. Our visitors left the Okanagan thrilled by the progress we are making and excited by our plans to further increase our impact.

While Friday 13th is considered unlucky day for some, it was an extremely lucky day for us. We received a very generous donation that was bequeathed by a local lady. We are extremely grateful for this gift; it will help considerably with the costs of a future project.

The You Win We Build 50/50 lottery draw date is almost here, just a few days of selling left until we share the growing pot which is now over $133,000. The ReStore 50/50 was a sell out again with a pot of $15,000. Thank you to everyone that supports us by helping to sell tickets in the community, the staff and of course the buyers that have made both lotteries very successful.

Every year we conduct a volunteer survey, it provides valuable feedback and helps inform our program development. If you are one of our many volunteers, there are a couple of ways you can participate, respond via the email or complete the paper version available at your volunteer location.

We look forward to hearing from you!
