CEO Message – February 2026

It is too early to say, “hello spring?” It feels like spring to me because last weekend we attended our first Home Show of the season at Prospera Place. This was a successful event for us and for the many people that entered our chip sheet raffle and winning some fantastic prizes kindly donated by vendors at the show as well as local companies. Thank you to everyone that supported us with donations and the volunteers who helped.

Over the next few months, the Habitat team will be attending many events to raise awareness of our work, the ReStore and of course our 50/50. If you are interested in meeting new people seeing different places and want to join in the fun, please consider signing up for one of the upcoming events.

The online 50/50 is back! This is your chance to win a nice pot of money while supporting Habitat’s mission to help local families achieve affordable home ownership. The last jackpot was a staggering $263,950.00; the Habitat team will be working hard to make this another big draw.

The annual meaning of home contest is now open for registrations. If you want to reduce a room full of adults to tears, this is the way to do it. Students across the country are invited to participate by writing a short story or poem about what home means to them. The winning entry is read out in person at the Habitat conference held in Toronto. Each entry helps to raise valuable funds for their local Habitat to help more families.

Have you ever thought about taking a vacation that could be life changing in many ways? Habitat’s Global Village program is just that. Global Village is a transformative weeklong international volunteer experience with opportunities across five continents. Volunteer groups support Habitat’s vision where everyone has a decent place to live by building or improving homes in partnership with local communities. You can learn about the program donation cost and find answers to other common questions here https://www.habitat.org/volunteer/travel-and-build/global-village/faqs.
