CEO MESSAGE – FEBRUARY 2021

Hello Everyone,

One of the highlights in January was the bottle drive held at 2 of our ReStores, the response was amazing and the funds raised far exceeded our expectations, a total of $8282 with a $500 donation from Boucherie Self Store and Bottle Depot, thank you to everyone that participated in this event.  Another highlight of the month was the ReStore performance, considering this is our quieter period new sales records were set in January by all stores.

The good weather we’ve had this winter is helping us to get started on Lake Country, we are now have the footings in for the first building.  There are 6 families doing their volunteer hours towards their Habitat homes and many applications are being reviewed to fill the remaining two homes of this first phase.  We will provide regular updates on the project.

At this time of year our inventory levels can be affected, to encourage our donors we currently have a promotion running until the end of March.  A 10% store discount card is given to anyone that donates unwanted items.

Finally it’s the time of year when grade 4, 5 and 6 students across Canada are invited to submit a poem or essay explaining what home means to them. It’s a great way for students to engage in an interactive and fun way, and it teaches youth the importance of safe, affordable housing. Each entry results in a $10 donation to a local Habitat and the winner in each grade gets to direct a $30,000 grant to a local Habitat build. Details can be found  on our website.

Thank you to everyone that supports us, we really appreciate you.
