CEO Message – April

Hello April. I hope managed to enjoy the beautiful weather over the Easter break. It was lovely to see and hear my neighbourhood getting active in the sunshine.

In March we welcomed Caroline Labadie to the family services department assisting Alison with all things family related and Heather Hild who joined as our donor stewardship and fundraising lead. Both bring strong a skill set to compliment the team and are settling well into their roles.

Did you know that our online 50/50 is nudging $30,000, and is set to climb as we continue with our event presence up and down the valley right up to the draw date of the 8th July. When you purchase a ticket, you’re not just getting a chance to win a big prize you’re also helping to support local families that are struggling to find affordable homes. Our ReStore Q1 draw sold out again and I had the pleasure of calling the lucky winner of the $9,000 prize, tickets for this draw will be in our stores again Monday April 12th.

We’re approaching a very special time when we recognize the tremendous work of our volunteers. Volunteer appreciation week is when we get to treat the many people that give up their time to help others. Whether your a volunteer in ReStore, out with our team in the community or on a committee member we want to include you in our appreciation. Events will be held during the 19 – 25 April at all four of the ReStores, more details can be found here.

We also have our appreciation cruise on the 24th May, this is open to all volunteers and staff including partners, please make sure you sign up to reserve your place, hopefully the weather is kinder to us this time!

As you start doing the your spring cleaning please consider the ReStores to donate your unwanted items. As well as receiving a tax receipt, you are helping Habitat to provide more affordable homes in your communities and the demand for them is higher than ever.

Have a great month!

Andrea
